1. Introduction

Established in 1972, the Faculty of Civil Engineering is a major faculty of Hanoi Architectural University, and one of the largest in Vietnam in providing quality civil engineers.

Currently, the Faculty of Civil Engineering offers undergraduate studies in the following specializations: Civil and Industrial Engineering, Urban Underground Engineering, Construction Materials Technology, and Construction Project Management. The graduate programs currently offered includes Master of Engineering in Civil and Industrial Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy in Civil and Industrial Engineering.

With a team of lecturers with extensive experience in teaching and research, many of who are directly involved in construction projects, we are confident in our ability to provide you with suitable undergraduate and graduate programs which are up to date with the latest technology and demands of society. During your study at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, you will develop your capabilities and skills in the most effective way.

After graduating from university, you will have the ability to participate in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, tanks, power poles, television towers, underground works, water supply and drainage works, irrigation works, etc. with the use of reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, composite structures, wooden structures, and masonry structures.

Graduates from the Faculty of Civil Engineering are located all over the country, directly involved in numerous civil and industrial projects. With a degree in Civil and Industrial Engineering, Urban Underground Engineering, Building Materials Technology, or Construction Project Management, you will find yourself actively contributing to serving and improving life.

2. History of development

On September 17, 1969, at the request of the Ministry of Architecture (now the Ministry of Construction), the Government issued Decision 181/CP to establish Hanoi Architectural University, led by Mr. Vuong Quoc My as the Provost. At that time, the school only offered programs in two majors: Architecture and City Engineering. In 1972, in Xuan Hoa town – Vinh Phuc province, Hanoi Architectural University established the Faculty of Civil Engineering with the mission of training and researching in construction sector in service of designing and building the country.

3. Fields of study

With a long history of 50 years of training in civil engineering and with a team of highly qualified and dedicated staff and lecturers, the Faculty of Civil Engineering is currently providing undergraduate and graduate programs in different specializations, as listed below.

At undergraduate level, the faculty offers four engineering majors:
+ Civil and Industrial Engineering;
+ Urban Underground Engineering;
+ Building Materials Technology; and
+ Construction Project Management.

At graduate level, the faculty offers Master of Engineering in Civil and Industrial Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in Civil and Industrial Engineering.

4. People

Over the long-term development, the academic staff in the Faculty of Civil Engineering has grown stronger in both quantity and quality. The faculty always considers instructors as the core drive for long-term and sustainable development, so in the past years, trainings to improve the qualifications of our lecturers have always been paid attention and reinforced.

Currently, the instructors of the Faculty of Civil Engineering consists of 102 lecturers (as of June 2022), including 14 Associate Professors and 39 doctors. Some lecturers are doing postdoctoral and doctoral studies abroad.
